PAC wishes to thank Pierre Poirier, Dr. Batt, and the 200+ paramedics and other healthcare professionals involved in the development process for their contributions to this project. The NOSP not only enhances competencies and educational standards, it also facilitates the framework of paramedic baccalaureate education.

Six Step Model (Step 4)

It was announced at the recent PAC Board Meeting in Toronto that the process is nearing Step 5. The draft document is scheduled for handover to the Technical Committee in April 2023.

The Six-Step Model for Developing Competency Frameworks developed by Dr. Batt and colleagues outlines the development process and outputs of the NOSP project.

PAC has appointed Dr. Alan Batt, a Professor in the Paramedic Programs at Fanshawe College, Ontario, and Adjunct Senior Lecturer in Paramedicine at Monash University, Australia to lead the NOSP development project on behalf of PAC. PAC has partnered with the CSA Group to manage the renewal of the NOCP and incorporate it into a new standard following accredited processes of the Standards Council of Canada – the National Occupational Standard for Paramedics (NOSP).
