Position Summary

Medical support personnel (MSP) working with Sirius Wilderness Medicine are clinical practitioners in paramedicine with an expanded scope of practice. They use their skills and expertise to provide emergency response, medical assessment, primary health care, chronic disease management, injury prevention, health promotion, medical referral, and coordinate emergency medical evacuations as needed for workers in Canada’s remote northern regions.

The industrial MSP practises on site with limited resources, remotely located from tertiary care, and uses telemedicine to consult with other health professionals as required. MSP staff work in cooperation with the site supervisors, health and safety officers, and exterior medical professionals. The position requires the exercise of independent judgment and decision-making, adaptability, resourcefulness, and good physical fitness.

Available to work on rotation period for seasonal projects (winter and summer
Schedule: 1 to 4 week-long rotations
Location of Work: Various sites in the Canada’s remote northern regions and other locations in
Canadian provinces.
Anticipated start date: As soon as possible

Please note there are also several other part-time and full-time Nurse, PCP and ACP positions to be filled.

Qualifications / Minimum Requirements
 Currently certified as a primary care paramedic in Canada
 A minimum of 5 years of primary care paramedic experience
 Strong assessment skills
 Excellent written and verbal English and good communication skills
 Bilingual (French/English) an asset
 Current certifications in BLS,PHTLS, WHMIS / TDG and Standard First Aid an asset
 Proficiency in use of medical records software and office software such as MS Word and Excel
 Team Player

Preferred Experience
 Working at remote / industrial / mining sites
 Experience in remote care, long-term care and occupational health and safety
 Working in northern communities
 Air evacuation management, coordination, and preparation

Security and Safety
 Ability to successfully pass a comprehensive background check and fit for duty exam.
